Part Three of A LokiXSigyn (canon wife~) picture collage.
~~~~~
This involves a lot of back story, and I will more give links then try to explain everything. This would take about 10+ pages if so. However, I will try and put in anything that is truly needed.
--------
Sigyn is attuned to nature, as she was half Vanir, not of actual Asgardian Aesir descendent. Long ago her grandfather Njord was the king of Vanir, and her estranged mother are full Vanir blooded, fought a war against Odin. While she herself had been too young to remember, the elder Vanir were still slightly bitter over their whole defeat, being forced to move to Asgard and integrate. For a long time, many thought Sigyn herself was trying to force her way to the throne, until she had proven herself a good helpful girl, kind and engaged to Theoric. But her marriage to Loki has cast her reputation and linage into introspection again.
She quite enjoys the ride, but after a few hours, even she begins to get bored with the awkward silence. Loki was a man of words, and she decided to take her plan to the next step.
"Loki." She felt her husband shift, their bodies having molded together to a better riding position, moved forward to hear her. His hands that had been gripping the reins resting on her hips moved up.
"Yes love?" His voice was soft, and thoughtful. She imagined it was more of what a younger Loki had sounded like, when Thor had described it.
"Are we, by chance, nearby to our location? I am not familiar with this path." His fingers tapped lightly on her stiff dress.
"Of course. My apologies dear, I should have realized you were not used to such riding. You are a lady, indeed." He was right, and she immediately thought of her escape, which he must have thought of also. How had she had so much energy? Now she thought of it, she had been so high on terror and adrenaline that she had no exhaustion. It was then she realized how hard Loki had ridden, how he looked at Theoric's village. He was no Thor, but he was so powerful. He seemed to be so reposed, so calm when he knew she or anyone else was there.
It was unfathomable to live that way, she thought.
"Just a little longer." And he was right.
As the horse rounded the last jagged mountain, Sigyn gasped, her mouth open.
There, on a great beach, was a beautiful large Vanir house, the Asgard ocean flowing on it's beaches. She had few memories of the war so long ago, but she would always remember the grand hall of her Grandfather Njord, like her fathers home. This house was very similar to the hall, though much smaller. The gold of Asgard tired her, but the lovely familiar free feel of this house made her ridiculously happy. Loki smiled in content as Sigyn couldn't contain her excitement.
"We are staying there?"
"Yes lo-"
"how long will it take to get there?" He gave a genuine laugh.
"Soon enough love." He spurred his tired horse a little faster, and they rushed up the cliffs. As they reached the top, before Sigyn could launch herself off, Loki quickly dismounted. Helping her down, he let her lead him by the hand, to the house. As they approached, an older servant rushed out, bowing appropriately, before taking away the horse to the smaller stable a little away. Sigyn seemed to stop before the house, and Loki took the moment to remove her wrap, as they were no longer riding.
Sigyn smoothed out her dress then clenched her fists, overcome with so many emotions.
"Thank you." She said. It was enough for him.
Loki, taking the risk, leaned in, his hands on her shoulder, wrap prevent him from touching material.
"It's yours. No one, except I, can come unless invited by you. You can come here whenever royal life becomes to much. It is a gift from the Allfather, mother and I."
Then Sigyn finally understood Loki.
He was lonely, tired and in constant pain, whether emotional or physical. More likely both at the same time. He had fought, just as she, and had so little pay for all of it. He wore such a mask. He understood her in a way even Theoric might never had been able too.
Both were royals who were not able to claim their throne, ever. Politically, this marriage was dangerous, but Odin, the only being who would understand, even if Loki denied it, loved his adopted son. He allowed what he was able too. Sigyn understood the decision of the allfather. Odin knew she would be one of the few that would ever be a match for the God of Mischief. He wanted her company as much as everything else.
He still wasn't right to take her, and she knew he knew that. He may not have cared for Theoric in any way, but he cared of Asgard, and those he loved. He couldn't show it, because of what had happened, who he was. He disliked playing the villain, but adored the tricks. He liked getting his way, but he was not the golden child, Thor. He was sorry for what he felt he had to do to get the one thing he thought he could not be without. He wasn't given anything, and he for some reason was in love with her.
In love.
She still was in pain over Theoric, and might be as long as she lives. But Loki knew something about her that maybe not even Theoric knew, that not even she had knew until this moment.
She would be faithful to any end. He wanted someone that he could trust and love. It had been her own refusal that had spurred his early advances, her fealty to Theoric a test. She was not an open woman, or loose like many other court ladies. She would not give in to any momentary gain.
And she could love him if she wanted.
But her longing for Theoric still wouldn't allow it. What does Theoric think, from Valhalla?
She couldn't love him. Not yet.
And she would still not let him get to her.
She stepped out of Loki's grasp quickly, remembering herself, and walked in her new home. Loki's face was tormented as he watched her back.
Then, he quickly recomposed himself, following her in.
